BASE CAHSEE Great America Trip

BASE High School students who passed the California High School Exit Exam during their sophomore year went to Great America today to celebrate their accomplishment.

Happy Birthday!

We celebrated not one but two birthdays today at Home Sweet Home. Preschool birthday boys, Luca and Jasper, got to 'walk around the sun' in our special birthday ritual.

Luca walked around the sun with older sister, Kisa.

Afterwards, the birthday boys given a chance to show items from the even earlier years of their lives. In the photo, above, you can see the children passing around Jasper's baby photo albums.



Then, of course, it was dessert time.

We had two special guests, our Fund Development Director's son Sam and his friend Alistair, came to visit our campus garden today after Lil' Kickers practice.

Test your Greatness

HOME Project's 2009 Summer Youth Leadership Program kicks off June 29, 2009 here at Alternatives in Action. Eustinove Smith and the HOME staff have been preparing our Big Room for the 75 youth that will be participating in leadership building classes, art and music workshops and weekly field trips all summer long.

Silkworms in the preschool

The children of Home Sweet Home, the preschool of Alternatives in Action, were given a bunch of silkworms to study. So far they have learned that silkworms only eat mulberry leaves and that their cocoons are very soft and delicate.

Class of '09 Graduation

BASE, the high school of Alternatives in Action, is holding the Class of 2009's graduation ceremony at Auctions By the Bay Theatre at 2700 Saratoga Street in Alameda, California on Friday, June 5, 2009 at 7 PM. This intimate graduation ceremony includes a short speech by each graduate’s chosen mentor about the growth and impact the young person has made through their high school experience.
